About Reiki

Photo credit: NOAAReiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is a hands-on therapeutic based on the idea that unseen life force energy (Ki) flows through us, creating and supporting life. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Ki is known in various cultures as Chi, Prana, Innate Intelligence, Vital Force, and more.

In Reiki practice, the source or cause of health comes from the Ki that flows through and around the individual rather than from the functional condition of the physical organs and tissues. Ki animates the physical organs and tissues as it flows through them. If the flow of Ki is disrupted, the physical organs and tissues may be adversely affected. Therefore, it is a disruption in the flow of Ki that can create illness. An important attribute of Ki is that it responds to ones thoughts and feelings. It is our negative thoughts and feelings that are the main cause of restriction in the flow of Ki. Even Western medicine recognizes the role played by the mind in creating illness and some Western doctors state that as much as 98% of illness is caused directly or indirectly by the mind.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known malady and has a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki is guided by the Higher Intelligence and it knows exactly where to go and how to respond to restrictions in the flow of Ki. Reiki is not guided by the mind; therefore it is not limited by the experience or ability of the practitioner. It can work directly in the unconscious parts of the mind/body.

As Reiki flows through an unhealthy or stagnant area, it breaks up and washes away negative thoughts or feelings lodged in the unconscious mind/body, allowing a normal healthy flow of Ki to resume. As this happens, the unhealthy physical organs and tissues become properly nourished with Ki and can function in a more balanced way.
