Frequently Asked Questions

Homeopathy FAQs

Q.   What kinds of conditions can homeopathy help?

A.   A homeopath doesn't diagnose or treat specific diseases - s/he recommends a remedy that best suits you, an individual with a unique personality, together with a set of characteristic symptoms.  Homeopathic remedies strengthen your overall state of health, helping your body to heal itself.

However, scientific studies of homeopathy have shown that remedies can help with a wide range of conditions.  These include respiratory and other infections, digestive problems, allergies, rheumatic conditions, trauma and pain, as well as mental or emotional complaints.  Children respond very well to homeopathic remedies, and have been helped with many health problems, including allergies, asthma, sleep problems, ear infections, skin conditions, frequent colds, fears and behavioral problems.

Q.   Is Homeopathy the same as herbalism?

A.   This is a common confusion, but homeopathy is very different than herbalism.  Although the two therapies both use natural plant-based medicines, the way the medicines are prepared, and the way they are taken is very different.

Herbalism uses only medicinal plants to make its remedies. Herbal remedies may be given as mixtures of several different ingredients, and are usually taken once or more a day.  If you have a fever, an herbal prescription will act counter to the fever and cool you down. Some herbal formulas are potentially toxic if taken in large doses.

In contrast to herbalism, homeopathic remedies are made from a variety of sources, including non-herbal plants, minerals, metals, and some animal products, such as milk.  The remedies are potentized, a unique process whereby the original substance is diluted and succussed (shaken) repeatedly. This process minimizes side effects, and ensures that the remedies are non-toxic.

Q.   Is homeopathy safe to use during pregnancy? What about after birth and while I am nursing?

A.   Because homeopathic remedies are micro-diluted, they are non-toxic and safe for pregnant and nursing mothers and their infants.   Homeopathy can help with many complaints during pregnancy, including morning sickness.  After the birth, remedies can assist with soreness and nursing problems.  During teething, homeopathy can ease pain and inflammation.

IET and Reiki FAQs

Q.   Is Integrated Energy Therapy® a religious technique?  How about Reiki?

A.   IET is a healing, spiritual work that has no denomination or religion; it is directed by the spirit of angels. It is a work that is centered around spirit, but respects whatever your definition of spirit is. It is direct spiritual communication, without judgments. While Reiki and IET are spiritual in nature, neither is a religion. These practices have no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki or IET.

Q.   Can anybody do Reiki or IET?

A.   Reiki and IET are amazingly simple techniques to learn. The ability to use Reiki and IET is not a classroom technique, but is transferred to the student during a class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki or IET Master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" (for Reiki) or Angelic Energy (for IET) to improve one's well-being and enhance the quality of life. Specific techniques are taught to help channel this energy flow. IET and Reiki have been successfully taught to thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds. Marnie is an IET Master-Instructor and offers training classes in IET at the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, as well as a class for IET for Pets as well as Healing Angels of the Energy Field.

Q.   Will my insurance cover homeopathic treatment, Reiki or IET?

A.   At the present time, medical insurance does not cover the cost of homeopathic treatment or energetic therapies in New York state.
